Great news, Caledon!
Our collective voices are being heard loud and clear at Peel Region.
Remember the CAA 2025 Worst Roads Campaign, where Highway 50 was voted #7 out of the top 10 worst roads in all of Ontario? And remember the petition we launched at Caledon Italian Heritage Day, Caledon Day, and Coffee Time Bolton? (It’s still available there for signature!)
Yesterday, CCRSA attended the Peel Regional Council meeting to officially introduce our petition and our asks that Peel Region accelerate the planned improvements to Highway 50 and Coleraine Drive.
We understand there are challenges with speeding up the timeline — land expropriations, utility relocations, and other complexities — but if major improvements can’t happen right away, we’re asking for temporary road safety measures to help calm the road chaos in this area. Another key request we made was for increased enforcement from Peel Regional Police along these corridors.
🎥 Watch the video from the Council meeting to hear the very frank and passionate discussion — including visible frustration from Regional Councillors. You’ll even hear an f-bomb! While not everyone may approve, it reflects just how serious and unacceptable this situation has become.
Chair Nando Iannicca said, “It is appalling what you see out there.” He committed to convening a meeting very soon with all key players in his office, adding that we’re not going to wait long for somebody to fix it because “it’s beyond atrocious — it’s time to make this our #1 priority.”
This is promising news for our community. Discussions around both major improvements and temporary fixes are happening imminently. CCRSA will keep all members updated as we continue to push for progress.
A Big Thank You!
Victor Da Rosa, for his ongoing push to have residents vote for Highway 50 in the CAA Worst Roads campaign — this visibility is helping spark real action.
Our incredible members, for continuing to post videos and photos of the daily road chaos — these stories are powerful and impossible to ignore.
Coffee Time Bolton, for hosting our petition and supporting our efforts. We’ve gathered over 300 hard copy signatures in under three weeks! The petition remains available for signing until July 4th, before it formally appears on Peel Region Council’s agenda on July 10th.
Annette Groves, Mayor of the Town of Caledon, and Regional Councillors Mario Russo and Christina Early, along with Chair Iannicca, for standing with us to push for these much-needed improvements.
This is a collaborative effort, and together we are making meaningful progress. We are making progress, Caledon — our voices are being heard!Let’s keep it loud!
