GTA mayors, including Brampton’s Mayor Patrick Brown, have come together in a powerful show of unity to demand immediate action from the Province on the escalating issue of illegal land use. This growing crisis, which includes unauthorized trucking yards, illegal fill operations, and unregulated developments, is putting our environment, infrastructure, and communities at serious risk.
These municipal leaders are calling on the Province to provide stronger enforcement tools, close existing legal loopholes, and give municipalities the authority they need to protect their communities and uphold the integrity of their official plans.
Illegal land use is not a Brampton issue alone—it’s happening across the GTA and beyond.
This joint effort signals that enough is enough. The time to act is now.
Together, these mayors are sending a clear message: we will not stand by while our roads, farmland, green spaces, and neighbourhoods are compromised.
We commend all mayors who have stepped forward to advocate for safe, sustainable, and lawful development across Ontario.
