The CBC Marketplace investigation uncovered a troubling scheme within Ontario’s truck driver licensing system. Bribes, forged documents, and rigged tests have allowed unqualified drivers to obtain licenses, endangering road safety. A hidden camera operation revealed these corrupt practices, where truck driving schools and testing centers fail to provide adequate training, offering shortcuts instead. The issue raises concerns about the overall quality of new drivers on the roads, posing significant risks to public safety as some drivers lack the necessary skills to operate large commercial vehicles safely.
